Gehant Memorial Dedication
(3/15/08)  The NIU Veterans Club will dedicate a memorial to Julianna Gehant on April 4, 2008 at 11:00. The service will take place at the NIU Veterans Memorial on the corner of Castle Drive and College Avenue on the NIU campus in DeKalb, IL. The ceremony will be open to the public and last approximately one hour. Following the ceremony, the Vets Club will host a luncheon at the DeKalb Elk's Lodge at 209 S Annie Glidden Road from Noon to 15:00. The luncheon is free and open to all; however an RSVP to Jenny Webster at (815) 501-8791 is necessary so she order enough food.

Gehant Funeral Service Information

Veterans Club Member Among Dead
(2/15/08)  Amongst the victims of the Valentine's Day Massacre is Julianna Gehant, 32, an active member of the NIU Veterans Club. Julianna was a SFC/E-7 in the U.S. Army Reserves and a student at NIU. We the NIU Veterans Club salute you, Julianna, and YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!

Shooting at NIU
(2/15/08)  On Feb 14, a lone gunman entered a crowded auditorium classroom at Cole Hall at NIU in DeKalb, IL, and opened fire on the student audience. The gunman killed five students and wounded 16 others before turning the gun on himself. The dead included:

Daniel Parmenter, age 20, of Westchester, Ill.
Catalina Garcia, age 20, of Cicero, Ill.
Ryanne Mace, age 19, of Carpentersville, Ill.
Julianna Gehant (pronounced Ghee-hant), age 32, of Mendota, Ill.
Gayle Dubowski, age 20, of Carol Stream, Ill.
